Since this instruction has been given by the Ministry of Government of Bangladesh, everyone needs to follow it. Bangladesh Railway started an online e-ticketing system from 2010. Currently, Sahaja.com is entrusted with the management of this system. Even though there have been some complaints against them since taking charge, passengers are able to purchase their tickets online very easily.

Through this notification, it has been said that with the aim of increasing the various services of Bangladesh Railway, a ticketing system of railway intercity train through national identity card verification and an online refund system of the real ticket has been launched which will effective from 1st March 2024.

Currently in this new system, if the passenger’s name and NID number printed on the ticket does not match with the identity card shown by the passenger, the passenger will be charged with the responsibility of traveling without a ticket, and fare collection measures will be taken as per the prevailing laws of Bangladesh Railways.
A passenger will be able to refund online the ticket purchased through the railway service once purchased through the railway ticketing web portal. In this case, the refund will be done through the same payment gateway used at the time of ticket purchase.
Currently, train passengers are instructed to carry national identity cards to prevent black-marketing of train tickets.
